Tatcha’s Violet-C Brightening Serum

Have you tried Tatcha’s Violet-C brightening serum?

I’m always on the look out for a nice vitamin C serum. This serum is a clean, oil and fragrance free formula with two types of vitamin C stabilized by antioxidant-rich Japanese beautyberry which helps to reduce skin inflammation and irregular pigmentation and offering instant and long-term results. All I need is 1-2 pumps to cover my face. I really like that there’s no strong smell and that it doesn’t leave a tingly feeling in my skin like most other vitamin C products I have tried. I love that it is super lightweight and didn’t irritate my skin. It is liquidy but I like that because it absorbs straight into my skin and doesn’t feel tacky at all.

I’ve been using this for a month now and I really enjoy using it. My skin has become softer and brighter. However, I haven’t really notice any major differences to my skin, at least not right away. The dark spots on my face seems to be fading away but not a major difference from what I could tell. I know everyone’s skin is different so maybe mine is just taking a bit longer. I will continue using it to see if my skin will improve, but over I’m loving how light and hydrating it is. If you have sensitive skin and like no fragrance, oils or alcohols in your products then I would recommend to give this a try. 😉

LaNeige’s Mulitberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

I’ve been using this for quite some time now and I have to say, I’ve been really liking it. It’s a very mild scrub so if you are looking for something that cleans deep, then this won’t be for you. I used it for a few nights but found that it didn’t really clean my skin that well. However, I find that it works well as a morning exfoliator (before applying make up). It is gentle enough to clean off any cream/oil left on my face from the night before and makes my skin soft and prepped for my makeup routine.

This peeling gel is a hypo-allergenic bio-peeling gel that exfoliates the skin for a smoother and clearer complexion. My skin does feel softer and looks brighter after using it. It is a thick gel which contains non-abrasive konjac bead (made from mannan) which is a natural exfoliator. I love how it gently removes the dead skin without irritating the skin. The beads are not hard, but very soft and gentle on the skin.

This exfoliator contains a multitude of blended fruit extracts (raspberries, blueberries, wolfberries, cranberries, and strawberries) which are anti-irritant/antioxidant properties and makes the scrub smell absolutely delicious like a strawberry smoothie! So sad that Sephora doesn’t sell them anymore!

Thank You Dyson!

I got this about a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it. If you’re thinking this is way too much for a hair dryer, I understand because that was my first thought too. BUT…even though Dyson always makes these crazy expensive products, I gotta admit, they are worth the money.  At the time Sephora had a sale and Ebates had a really good cash back promo so I couldn’t resist and decided to give it a try.  You know what? I ended up really liking it and decided to keep it.

I have really thick and frizzy hair and it takes forever to dry. Since I started using it, I found that it was very efficient in terms of drying time. (I’ve got two kids so time is precious for me as I’m always on the go). What would normally take me at least 30-40 minutes with my old hair dryer and straightener only took me 10 minutes with the Dyson dryer and just another minute with my straightener.  The air that comes out is strong but also soft at the same time. It has a sensor inside that measures the heat of the air to keep it from getting too hot. After using it, I noticed my hair was smooth and shiny and not as dry as it used to be. I tried my old hairdryer again and I could definitely see the difference. I love how the attachments clip on magnetically, which makes switching the nozzles super easy.  The one I use often is the smoothing nozzle which directs the heat efficiently.

The two things I wish they would change is to make it a cordless (the cord is too thick and heavy) and to make it suitable for international travels. I was quite surprised and disappointed when I found that out. You would think that for that price it would have dual voltage. 😏 Overall, I am happy with it and I use it often enough so I think it is worth it.

Tatcha’s Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil

This cleansing oil was what made me fall in love with Tatcha products. I’ve been using this for a years now and it is a must have product for me! Yes, it is that amazing! At first I was really worried that it would make me break out but surprisingly it didn’t and it completely cleaned everything off my face and eyes. It emulsifies with water so it rinses without a greasy feel and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. I was quite surprised how quickly and effortlessly it was to remove my mascara. It felt like my makeup just melted off my face.

The most amazing cleansing oil!

1-2 pumps will clean your entire face. First, rub the oil on your dry skin and then it will start to break the makeup down. (I also rub it all over my eyes and haven’t experienced any irritation at all). After massaging for awhile, add some water and the oil will turn into a milky emulsion. Rinse. It’ll leave the skin soft and clean. Somedays I will follow the cleanse with an exfoliator.

It is pricey for a cleansing oil, but honestly, this cleansing oil is great for all skin types and definitely worth it. It is formulated with rice bran oil, camellia seed oil, green tea extract, and red algae extract.  All their products are gentle and the packagings are so luxurious.

The package is simple and elegant.

LaNeige’s Water Sleeping Mask

During the winter months, my skin is extremely dry and dehydrated. Last winter was really bad and I needed a new moisturizer. I wanted something that was hydrating but also not too heavy. I was recommended Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask. I gave it a try and it was amazing.

It has a water gel consistency and provides intense hydration to the skin. It also has a very light, delicate scent. It is slightly sticky and takes a bit of time to set, but it will leave your skin feeling supple, soft and hydrated. I love how it has a cooling sensation and it absorbs into my skin making it feel soft and hydrated in the morning. Hydration is a really important part of my skin care routine and with this I know my face gets full hydration through the night.

LaNeige’s Balancing Emulsion

Let’s talk about Laneige’s balancing emulsion today. I’m always trying out moisturizers and I have to say this is one of my favourite moisturizers, especially for the summer. I love that it is so light and doesn’t leave my skin greasy or breaking out. It is great for those with oily and sensitive skin, and if your skin can’t take heavier moisturizers, then this is for you!

This is my go to morning moisturizer after washing and applying toner and before applying make up. It absorbs quickly, it is light and gentle and locks in the hydration. My skin feels hydrated and refreshed and no sticky film on my face. I definitely recommend this for those with oily and sensitive skin. A little goes a long way. One pump is all your need for your entire face!

Hitachi Hada Crie

A couple of years back my cousin had told me about this cool gadget and after she showed me how it worked, I wanted one too! Lucky me, my friend was in Japan at that time so I asked her to pick one up for me. You can imagine how excited I was when I got it!

I don’t use this as often as I would like to because it does take about 20 minutes to go through all four modes. But I’m really making the effort to use it more often. My favourite stage is #4, which is only recommended to be used once or twice a week. Sometimes I just skip all the other modes and use stage 3 with my sheet masks. It’s so good!

Step 1: Cleansing – this stage removes fine dirt from the pores using ion power. It cleans out whatever your cleanser can’t wash off (you’ll be surprised). Step 2: Micro-pat – this stage prepares skin for moisturizing by stimulating and loosening the skin.
Step 3: Moisturize – this stage allows the moisturizing ingredients to penetrate the skin.
Step 4: Cool – this stage helps to tighten the pores.

After washing my face with my cleanser, I was surprised with how much more dirt came out. I do really love this device and I do try to use it as often as I can but honestly, it is time consuming. It is very handy to take on vacation as it is cordless. I charge it before leaving for vacation and it can last me up to 5 days.

“Be Good To Your Skin. It’s What You Wear Everyday.”

Welcome to my beauty blog! I must confess, I never really had a proper skincare routine. Over the years I’ve tried different products here and there but nothing really consistent.  In my 20s, the only consistent thing I would say I used on my face was a makeup wipe.  In my early 30s, I definitely didn’t put any effort or bothered trying to care for my skin.  It was hard after having kids as I had health issues and depression so you can imagine how I wouldn’t have the time or energy for any skin care routine.  However, as I am approaching 40 soon, I’m realizing proper skincare is a top priority.   A few months ago, for the first time, I truly wanted to take care of my skin. While many may say turning 40 isn’t considered old these days, I can definitely see the signs and I think that’s why I’ve noticed my skin care collection has been growing day by day.

I use to have bad acne through my teenage years and after using Proactiv, it left my skin more irritated as the drying agents in the formula made my face even more dry.  I’ve also tried many drugstore products and most of them just left my skin irritated.  This is why I am very particular with the products I choose because of my sensitive skin.

Lately, I’ve been judging my face a lot. My skin has been starting to show some fine lines, it is still really dry and dull with occasional redness, but I shouldn’t be surprised since I never really took good care of my skin in the first place.  I am realizing as I’m hitting 40, how important it is for me to take good care of my skin while I still can.  I realize I have to be very careful now.  I use to love bathing in the sun, but now I hid away because of the sun spots I see appearing on my skin.  The past year I’ve really been intrigued by Japanese and Korean skincare. Since then I have been trying new products to incorporate into a skin care routine.  I would love to share what I’ve been using and what has worked or not worked for me. I am hoping that those who follow my blog will enjoy and I would love to hear some feedbacks as well!
